David does have a higher degree of compatibility with cyberware than most people, it's why Tanaka was interested in him, but higher limits doesn't mean no limits, and he kept pushing, which is what happens to most people that go heavy on cybernetics. Also, Rebecca became more and more of a fan favorite as the series continued, her heart to heart talk with David in this episode and her "Don't worry, I got your back!" got me on board the Becca train.

Mr.Host

David is such a horribly tragic character, it's honestly a little hard to watch him destroy himself. I think this show does a fantastic job at showcasing the consequences of addiction. Better than a lot of media in fact.

Fun Fact: Mike Pondsmith (the maker of the original cyberpunk tabletop game) compared cyberware to steroids. Makes you stronger, depends. But go overboard and roid-rage will take over. Or in this case, cyberpsycosis. Either way, you're no longer the same person.

I always found the way things end between Doc and David to be really sad. Near as we can see Doc was the closest thing David had to a friend before meeting Lucy, Maine and the crew. Only people we ever see David interact with besides his Mom were Doc and Tanaka's son. (And Tanaka's kid was David's bully, so not exactly friends). And now that's all over, I think even Doc, cold cheap bastard he is. Is sad to see David go out like this. Kid who used to work for him, on a one way ticket to Cyberpscychosis. Also fun fact, Falco (the fellow with the moustache and cowboy accent who's the crew's driver) is voiced by Matt Mercer. Famous for being the Dungeon Master of Critical Role, the fine folks that brought us The Legend of Vox Machina.
