Too bad this isn't a main series, season 4 is halfway done and finishing up later this year, and this series is consistently excellent all the way through. And yea, certain characters basically have borderline superpowers in this series. The old guy who actually was able to look young by eating body parts, Sugimoto who recovers from near lethal wounds, and the fox woman was actually accurate in all her fortunes in this episode (she included a #3 ticket in the ones she bought even though she said initially 6 would win). Basically gives them each their own thing they specialize in.

The hotel that Ienaga runs is based on the Hotel built by one H.H. Holmes a notorious murderer who built a similar Hotel in Chicago. He used a lot of the same tricks that Ienaga uses in her own hotel. Also I'm pissed they didn't show more of Hijikata's battle. It was so good in the Manga. It's basically a retelling of Akira Kurosawa's Yojimbo (The Bodyguard) which would be known to you as A Fistful of Dollars. Only it has it's own unique spin on it, that makes it unique enough to be fresh and exciting. Again I'm so pissed they left it out.
