If you are interested, there are about a dozen OVA episodes that follow this that cover some of the following arcs in the manga, although they skip around and don't cover everything. But basically, this series goes from high school gang fights to martial arts conflict on a global level, where masters from around the world are basically fighting each other (so you get to see the Kenichi's masters actually fighting other fighters on their same level) and those masters have their own disciples who fight each other and Kenichi gets dragged in.

I don't think it's necessary to watch the OVAs on the channel, as I said they are a bit disjointed since they kind of hop around a bit in the manga, was just pointing it out to you in case you wanted to see a bit more of the series. Looking forward to Picking up girls in a dungeon, it's a great series.

Lets be fair, it wasnt about envy for Loki. It was about respect... Which is just as dumb. He was sad about losing, but held onto a grudge because he thought Kenichi disrespected him by giving over that badge.

To follow up on what J was saying, the setup for the coming conflict gets lost in translation here. When Ogata tells them to prepare for the darkness, the word he uses for darkness is Yami, which is actually the name for his organization of evil psycho masters. So it was more of a declaration of war.

For combining his 2 powers together like that, Odin ends up wheel chair bound. He's lucky enough to be capable of walking for limited amounts of time, but obviously those are some very real consequences. He and Kenichi do eventually bury the hatchet though, so at least some good came out of it.
