Curtis, you said kenichi didnt want to hurt the guys feelings even though he was a psycho killer. I can tell you that the general trick is not to hurt someones feelings BECAUSE they are a psycho killer. So at best, he just had a nicer reason to act like the rest of us.

I mean... with what the masters said, it makes sense that there is a duality in Ogata. He just lets his rage take over during combat, so when he fights it is purely emotionally driven, while he is a different guy outside, because the rest of who he is also has a say.

Shinpaku is completely against killing their opponents, where as many other martial arts masters see killing as a natural part of martial arts. It doesn't necessarily make them completely evil, it just means they'll willing to cross that line in order to accomplish their goals. Granted, those goals often revolve around getting more powerful at all cost.

If you didn't pick up on it from that ending there with Ogata putting on that white cloak, that was supposed to be the big twist reveal that he's actually the Great Sage Fist, the First Fist's master, the man who saved Hermit's life in that flashback on the bridge, and the (sort of) true leader of Ragnarok.

Having read the manga, I can assure you that Ogata is an evil, evil man. He's similar to Stain from MHA in that he's a complete fanatic for martial arts, although unlike Stain, Ogata's ambitious don't have even a single shred of nobility to them.

Ogata's reasons for all the sculptures is pretty interesting. He obviously has no issues with killing, but he also heavily believes in the honorable warriors death for those that choose the path a martial arts. Well one day he killed a lady warrior who, unbeknownst to anyone, was pregnant. So whenever he's not carrying out his insane agenda, he's off in the mountains, carving statues in solitude to atone for taking the life of an innocent non warrior.
