It sucks that as grand a goal as being Wizard King is, from Julius's perspective it's not nearly enough to fix the Kingdom. We've had a slew of traitors and the nobility are literally walking around executing people on whims. Examples being like Langris, the real Xerx, the Purple Orca nobles that killed Zara. But he's in a such a tough position where the nobility are strong and a huge asset to the Kingdom so they can't really be killed but they are beyond reasoning with. Add the fact that there is a King in charge who passes down the same beliefs and it almost feels like there's nothing Julius could do nonviolently to expedite the growing changes being made by Asta and all the others.

The studio that made the Naruto anime also did Black Clover, you can tell the similarities in the animation during the major fight scenes. The series started off a bit rough in the animation department but got much better as it went along.

Even if Julius paid the ultimate price, in his mind, it was enough. He only wanted to protect the future of the kingdom and he did that here. Licht Mah Nutz may have won the fight with dirty methods, but that spell he used most certainly had to have taken a lot out of the tank. This better's Yami's chances greatly.
