Yeah, Sol has two things going for her appearance wise, anime fans love tan/dark skin girls (it's even a tag in hentai) and tomboys (at least i think Sol's a tomboy).

At the very least calling her a tomboy is not innaccurate. She does seem to be more in tune with her masculine side being a fighter, not caring much for prim and proper apparel, etc.
