Well, this sucks! That seemed to be a lethal strike that Soul took! Crona seems entirely controlled by Ragnarok and Moon Hottie!

I don't think Crona's gender was ever confirmed in the manga from what I've found. They were always referred to as 'they' and are only referred to as 'he' in the anime cos funimation felt calling them 'it' was too demeaning. Apparently Crona's voice actor (Maxey Whitehead) said that Crona was their favourite character to voice up to that point in her career.

There are so many good characters in this show, but Crona is definitely one of my favorites. Maxey Whitehead is one of those VAs that I'm not super familiar with, but I think she does a great job here.

Crona's gender isn't known in the series, there's sort of a reason for that, but I won't say yet, after the series ended the author basically joked about not knowing either, and yeah basically ignore any time they refer to Crona as he or she, Japanese is structured differently, so they don't need to refer to someone as he or she, I can actually think of something similar happening with the Metroid series, the original game manual doesn't refer to Samus's gender either, but its translation accidentally called her a he, male is just the default translaters use when they don't know typically. And yeah, Crona's demeanor is really sympathetic

Yeah as everyone else has mentioned, Crona's gender isn't really clear. When i was reading the manga the translation referred to Crona as a 'she', the anime uses 'he', so just go along with whatever the translation you're watching uses for simplicity's sake. Although personally i think Crona is a she, after a specific event in the manga Crona is shown to have a more feminine figure, i think the author just didn't put much emphasis on it during the series since there was no point

Crona is so pitiable. Even in this episode you get the sense Crona isn't really malicious, just doing what they're told. Even if they are a bit creepy.
