So history things to cover for this episode. You're no doubt aware of Rasputin's reputation more than you are aware of any actual facts about him. First off he looked nothing like the guy in this series, he was an older man with a long beard who looked like he needed a shower. He was also nowhere near as educated as this version. In fact I'm fairly certain he was illiterate until much later in life. The woman you saw him talking too is Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanov. The famous princess that people insisted for years had survived when the Bolsheviks killed the Russian royal family. The reason Rasputin is so familiar with her, is during both their life-times he was a close friend of the Romanovs. Serving as a spiritual advisor to the Tsar and Tsarina, in addition to being a faith healer they consulted. Regarding Anastasia's younger brother Alexei's hemophilia. They talk about how Russia was defeated by the Japanese in the Russo-Japanese war. Which was actually one of the big factors that in conjunction with WW1 led to the decline of the Romanov's control of Russia. Ultimately leading to the downfall of the Russian Empire. I'm not going to cover The Count St. Germain since I've covered him quite extensively back when we were watching Castlevania. The long and short of it is he was a world class bull-shitter who passed himself as a nobleman, alchemist, philosopher and supposed immortal. One of his nicknames was "the man who does not die, and who knows everything"

So a bit of a missable detail, but the Black King seemed to have pieces of, what seems like, salt falling off of him. The same started happening to Gil De Rais when he took too much damage and exerted too much power after he and Joan attacked the Drifters, and he eventually totally dissolved into salt. Whether this isn't salt but something else, or it means the Black King is dying very slowly is unclear. Interestingly enough the Black King is basically a more assholeish version of Rimuru, he's someone uplifting and educating the monsters of the world and helping them build their own civilization. Only difference being the king conquers the humans as revenge, Rimuru tried diplomacy first. Another thing i wanna bring up again, now we know the kings actual power, power over life. Any clues as to who he might be? Every person brought from our world was someone historically important, whether more or less varies from person to person. But taking into account his clothing, staff, and now power you start to piece together his identity. Of course it's never actually revealed, at least not until a 2nd season drops sometime, so its all just theorizing, but it seems very heavily implied.
