I guess if Yamcha could pull of the Kamehameha, then Krillin might be able to, also, but Jackie Chun thinks it's a bad idea!

You know people always give Yamcha shit but Chiaotzu I feel is a worster fighter.

Also in retrospective I don’t think Goku is as much stronger as he was three years ago. One of the reason I like Dragonball is because the power progression is slow and natural. Unlike Dragon Ball Z where Goku goes from a power level of 5000 “base stage” to about 15 million in what 2 months?

I seem to have found another plothole. Roshi and shen both don't diefromage because of the water they fell in when they were training together. But mercenary tao didn't as far as I remember. how can he be shen's brother? There is too much time between them

V_VMat

If you are talking between Saiyan fight and Freeza fight, the gap was about from 5k to 180.000 (with Kaio-ken x1) (I think the base was 24.000 that Ginyu tried to use)

Well Curtis the thing is the Crane students were already brutal enough as it is but now that Shen has revenge on his mind, he may push for his students to become more brutal and murderous. Now the tournament is less about who will get the title and rather will anyone die for Shen's revenge. I mean Tien already broke Yamcha's leg without knowing about Tao's fate. How much more brutal will he be with a more serious motivation driving him during the fight?

Also, I'd like to say that I believe from what we have seen so far that Tien might have a romanticized view of Tao since he called him a "great man". Another side note, I find it interesting how blunt and unfeeling Goku is about Tao's death. This is probably because Goku has a very black and white morality right now. He doesn't much care when talking about killing Tao because to him Tao was a horrible person, so he doesn't see any moral problem with killing him with that info alone.

They hype up Tao quite a bit, and it seems deserved. He wrecks Goku in their first fight (when Goku is shown to be slightly less strong than Jackie Chun in the tournament previously), then after the Tower Training, Goku is stronger. Now they appear to be worried about Tien's strength, but for Tien to be a match for Goku, he would have to be much stronger than Tao was. I know speculating on relative strength is pointless, but it still feels inconsistent. It takes Roshi 50 years to master the Kamehameha, but Yamcha does it after a couple years of training. Presumably, the same is true of Krillin. Goku makes sense, considering his unique circumstances. It seems like every other "young/student" fighter is a prodigy of sorts. Yamcha, Krillin, Chiaotzu, and Tien have all exceeded Roshi, Shen, and Tao in decades less time. It makes me wonder if it's Goku's presence pushing them further than they ordinarily would have gotten.

Goku might also not think much of killing Tao, as he simply kicked the grenade that Tao threw, back to him, so maybe in his mind Tao killed himself.

I agree about it being very surprising that Yamcha and Krillin both already have the Kamehameha when it took Roshi so long to acquire it... Like you said, though. nothing surprises me with Goku. 😊
