I despise Crane. He's easily one of the top douchebags of Dragon Ball. More importantly though, Yamcha did well. He lost, but he fought like a badass.

It's at this point that I realized on my rewatch of this is that Yamcha's losses in the show aside from an exception in Z are based on him being pit against opponents who are much, much stronger than him. In the first tournament he had to fight Jackie who is actually Master Roshi. Clearly not an even fight but here he had to fight Tien who obviously one of the strongest fighters at this specific tournament. Also look back at the Mummy fight where Yamcha has to fight a character that Master Roshi honestly didn't think anyone could beat. This is all because Toriyama doesn't seem to know what else to do with Yamcha besides these mostly one-sided fights. I also have things to say about the whole meme with the Saibaman but i'll leave that for when Curtis eventually watches Z.
