Something to note: In the anime, Oden’s father is voiced by the same person who voices Hitetsu (Tama’s Guardian, the Red Long Nose guy). So this could be a hint that Oden’s father is still alive and was hiding all this time. That’s important because Oden’s father can teach people how to read the Poneglyphs.

Kawamatsu more than repaid the kindness Oden showed him. He kept his daughter safe for a few years after the fall of The Kozuki Shogunate and risked his own life with how little food he could acquire. But yeah, you could call Yasuie the architect of the Akazaya Nine; he trained and educated them. We now have context on why Kin and the others were deeply sad to see him die. He was like a father figure to them. Good to see pops again though :)

It took me 3 times of seeing this backstory and reading it in the manga to realize that the Akazaya Nine have the "Reverse Moon" on their robes
