It just dawned on me and I've never noticed this before, but the priest guy waving the fan thing around to deter off the big white boar looks an awful lot like Baldeboo aka Holdem, the Lion dick guy. Could be coincidence, but they have the same purple eyeliner and lips. Kanjuro has always been an oddball, I mean look at his drawings XD

Yeah so Oden has 9 Retainers -Kinemon -Raizo -Kanjuro -Ashura Doji -Cat Viper -Dogstorm -Kawamatsu -Kiku -Denjiro So Denjiro is the only one we have not seen in the present time, we don’t know where Denjiro currently is. Also Kiku’s older brother is named Izo, Izo is also a retainer and a member of Whitebeard’s crew; we’ve saw Izo fight trying to save Ace during Marineford. https://imgur.com/a/N0Oio1D

Oden's character feels like Oda created someone based on old legends. The Nibelungen song, Beowulf, the story of Cú Chulainn, etc. all have such exaggerated feats and characters in them, and Oden's story feels much the same. I loved reading about such legends as a kid, and the same is true for this one. 10/10

I like the fact that Oden didn't recruit his crew but that they followed him by themselves. Even if Oden himself was annoyed by it!

I felt that! when that servant that works for yasuie told Yasuie that oden bit the hands that fed him, because that's exactly what Wario did.

Quite the antithesis to Luffy (recruitmentwise that is; though Luffy has that natural leader vibe, so its to be expected people want to follow and support him). I still do feel Luffy and Oden would get along fantastically. Possibly a friendly rivalry with mutual admiration and respect, else a natural friendship like how he has with Usopp. I'll lean more towards the former though.

I believe the Oden flashback would have made an amazing anime series just by itself. One of the things this (along with things like Senior Pink's backstory) gives me hope for is that Oda will be able to make great short series after One Piece is over (:'( )
