I usually skip recap episodes (mostly because I don't have the memory issues) because more often than not the show-runners re-hash events that you've already seen in the most boring way possible. I gotta admit though this show is one of the few times, where I actually enjoyed the recap. Makes me think that maybe the folks making these recaps for the studios are learning their lesson. Also is it just me or did the Battalion give off Gurren Lagann levels of gung-ho, when they shouted they would continue with the march?

I'll need to try and find it before we're finished with the season, but Tanya gives a great speech about a Soldiers most important weapon, the shovel, it's actually a really great weapon in the series lol, Tanya once had her battalion use them to wipe out a full trench of people, it kills, it digs, it builds, she claims that every soldier should carry one, its an essential tool. Oh, also Tanya's war time law speech was apparently recorded and is kept for the history records according to the light novels. I might be a little off on this part, but I'm pretty sure Tanya is like 11 at this point in the series, Visha is maybe 5 or so years older, though Tanya's growth is stated in the light novels to be potentially be a little stunted due to lack of nutrients from food from the frontlines, she went to a nurse about it.
