If I wasn’t a manga reader and only watched the anime and you told me after reaching 900 episodes that time travel was a thing in One Piece, I wouldn’t have believed it for a second.

Much later on this arc we will get a fully detailed backstory for Oden. This episode was just a summary. Oden’s backstory is hands down the BEST backstory of the series and one of the all time backstories in any anime

Just like everyone else Wano introduced Oden and he immediately jumped into my favorite characters list ! Can’t wait for his backstory it’s gonna be such a fun time

Oden is one of the best backstory characters, if not the best, within One Piece. He and Luffy would get along like butter on bread. But even by this point, much as I hated Kaido, I respected his power and status. Orochi though, as Luffy correctly pointed out that he is a "sneaky little shit", just made me hate Orochi more.

If I can make a quick comparison, the brief 'history lesson' on the past that Kin'emon gave compared to the actual Oden backstory is like someone telling you about how good One Piece is compared to actually Watching/Reading it.

How does this make any sense? The anime really doesn't vary from the manga much, and hell the few fillers it does have gives us crazier abilities than the manga itself, how is time travel harder to believe in the anime than the manga?
