Honestly Grimmer and Lunge are two of a kind. They both have difficulty with expressing their emotions. Lunge has his icy facade that he puts up. While Grimmer has to force himself to smile and be a friendly and likeable person. They're the perfect tag-team.

I think it's more likely that Lunge is on the autism spectrum. It's not that he's trying to put up a facade--it's his true personality. He doesn't seem to pick up on or care about "normal" social cues, familial obligations, etc, but notice that whenever he realizes he *should* send a letter to his grandson, or he *should* visit his daughter or family, it's like the thought hadn't even crossed his mind until that moment, and in both cases, he seemed to be more than open to doing so. Anyway, yeah, I get the feeling that Lunge's personality is highly logic-based, and obsessions with particular things (in Lunge's case, solving crimes) is very common among neurodivergent people :)
