Martin's great! It's partly because of great characters that we find even non-Tenma episodes so enjoyable even if Johan's not there.

Martin probably went to prison for what in German law is called Totschlag. Which translates to English as manslaughter, the difference though is in Totschlag you intended to kill the person. It's usually used in cases of what we'd call a crime of passion. It carries with it a sentence of 5 to 15 years. Hence why he got out in 8 years due to good behaviour. Whereas Tenma most likely will be charged with Mord. Which is murder with aggravating circumstances, which the murders that Johan committed that he's taking the fall for definitely qualify for.
