This morning, while making Nay's breakfast, our microwave quit. I grumbled about having to go buy another... That was nothing.

This afternoon, the linked devastation hit...and my fucking sump pump QUIT!!

My water heater was underwater - fortunately we got a pump before it got to my boiler - and now I will be up all night, turning the pump on and off every half hour or so until Home Depot opens in the morning so I can get a new sump pump!

Then I will have to determine if I can save my water heater or if I'll be installing a new one of those, too!  😡😡

Sometimes life is a douchebag!  😄

State of Emergency issued in Fonda due to rain, flash flooding

FONDA, N.Y. (NEWS10) - A state of emergency has been issued in the village of Fonda. Mayor Bill Peeler declared a state of emergency Monday evening. This includes a no travel advisory except for emergency vehicles. A flash flood warning is in effect for Southern Fulton and Central Montgomery Counties until 9:15 p.m.

I own a duplex, live in one unit and rent out the other. A couple weeks ago the HVAC went out, it was old, and the repair guys said patching it up was pretty much just delaying the inevitable as it would probably bust against shortly after so I had to buy a new one. Man those things are expensive, although it should be good for another 20 years or so. The few days it took to get replaced were not fun though with the heat we've been getting.

Man that is absolute garbage. Try punching the water in the face and see if that works. If not it will atleast ease some of the stress.

Damn, you've had it rough this last little while. First the 24 hour stream because you were worried about time running out to get the van converted before the State cut back on programs for the disabled. Then there's the renovations for house since you're not selling it. And now this shit.

Actually, I'm watching vids in between trips down cellar so I can have my stuff done for tomorrow when I'll have to be working on the house, and I can hear that the trains are still moving, but going REALLY slow! 😂

Ouch I know the feeling, my house used to get flooded everytime there was a rain storm and the sump pump did fuck all. We recently replaced it with a sewage pump because I thought why not and that actually had made a huge difference, might be worth looking into. As for the microwave you could probably rob a college student cause from my experience in dorms they have no idea how to use a microwave properly. You have no idea how many times I had to evacuate my dorm at like 2am in the freezing northeast winter because some idiot couldn't tell their popcorn was done from the smoke cloud.

Damn that sucks. here in germany we also have some regions with extreme flooding problems. hope your hime wasnt hit too hard and you can save the heater

one of my former co-workers lost his heater in a flood so he had the new one installed in his attic. but man am i glad to live up on a hill and don't have a basement.

Hi, sorry to hear that Curt, I don't often comment on your posts, but this hit a bit hard, I have been helping an old acquaintance of my dad, fixing his basement for water damage to a lot of boxes. So I know the struggles. Good luck, and may Home depot be stocked in your favour!

Oh I know that feel, my basement flooded like a week ago and we had the people come over and basically kick us out and told us to go to a hotel or something cause it created some like super bad type of mold.

I fortunately live in the Chicago area and have all those Sears appliances from back in the day. They don’t make them like they used to, I had a sears water heater that lasted my parents over 25 years. Then got one in 2016 that broke this year. Times are changing man haha
