I understand why Tenma got himself a gun... I'm just not sure that it will work out well for him.

So this episode gave more insight into Lunge on top of what you were saying about him ignoring leads that would clear Tenma's name. and none of it makes him likable lol despite all these patients adamantly backing up his character to the point of blocking their pursuit Lunge doesn't even bat an eye. Lunge met Eva, see's she's not mentally stable and when she shows up to set Tenma up for the crime he acts on it immediately. so here's my opinion on Lunge's persona. He does have a photographic memory, cannot relate/identify other people's emotions, and once he has an idea of who he thinks is the culprit is, he zones in on catching them with a blood hound's fixation. Is he a genius? probably but because he's so obsessed and lacking humanity he only sees half the picture. So now good guy Tenma now has to pursue the psycho intelligent killer ghost, Johan while fleeing from the coldblooded rainman terminator, Lunge. Not a great position to find yourself in but it makes for a compelling story xD anime has trained alot of us to empathize with characters but Monster isn't a typical anime. Everyone who interacts with Lunge is visibly uncomfortable around him. the one thing I like about Lunge is he isn't preachy about his views. He's like a cold calculating computer program. much characterized by the disk drive method he uses

It doesn't help Tenma's case either that he keeps running away 😅

How much shorter would this anime be if Tenma and Lunge worked together to catch Johan instead of Tenma running from Lunge and going after Johan alone?

It just dawned on me that Monster is very similar to The Fugitive (the film starring Tommy Lee Jones and Harrison Ford)

Actually wouldn’t be surprised if the series got some inspiration from this movie because Monster was serialized a year later in 1994.

Eva is a character that I pity for lack of a better word. (Pity usually means feeling sorry for, but that doesn't quite fit what I feel). Just because of how wretched a human being she is. I don't know if that makes any sense.

I kinda get what you’re saying… Sometimes you feel bad for someone that just never seemed to be able to embrace some basic decency… I get that.
