I've said it before, Tomiko is actual best girl in the series. Supportive and an actively engaged in the relationship. Granted, Ippo is still a doormat when it comes to getting his relationship off the ground so Kumi hasn't exactly had a lot of chances to show her stuff. Glad the author made Tomiko an actual character and not just the butt of jokes.

Agreed. It would have been easy to just cast her off as "the aesthetically unpleasing girlfriend", but instead she is an absolute badass when it comes to being in a relationship!

Ah yes, the old "sex on the night before a match makes you weaker somehow" myth that's been repeatedly debunked. But this takes place in the 90s, so I guess it makes sense that people are being weird about sex stuff xD

I absolutely love how tomiko, a character that was basically treated as a joke when she was first introduced as the girl that they guys wanted to avoid in the whole "bowling match date" episode, ended up being such a serious and important side character thats basically universally loved in the series. Honestly morikawa (the writer) has some serious balls to pull something like that off.
