god I love Ranma lol, Rumiko's works tend to have a pretty manic energy to them honestly, you can see that in the fight scenes and some of the higher energy moments. For some reason when they adapted Ranma 1/2's manga for the first season they slowed it down, like this episode is pretty much just a single chapter, unlike other ones that tend to be a few chapters. they fix the pacing later in the season thankfully and by the second seasons start it has a pretty great pacing to it. also, Kuno basically talks in an old fashioned more formal form of japanese in the sub, he see's himself as an old fashioned sort of gentleman samurai lol, which includes poetry, that basically translated to him being pretty Shakespearian in the dub.

Yeah the earlier episodes tend to do dramatic pauses but after like the first 6ish eps the pauses timing gets better at setting a scene rather then seeming juxtaposed and like chrome said the later episodes tend to adapt like more per episode and the pacing improves quickly, im reading through the manga rn and its interesting how many storyarches the manga doesn't run with aslong as the anime chooses to

It just occurred to me, Genma has the luxury of going to the public bath. I mean if the Panda pays, who are they to stop him from entering the Men's bath? Whereas Ranma can't exactly go into the Women's bath and then come out a dude now can he?
