They sort of hint at what Date's doing here to lessen/negate damage. I'll be interested to see if you can guess what it is by tomorrow. I remember when I found out for the first time, his badass level went up a notch for me.

You can sort of tell by watching him as he's getting punched, I had a rough idea when I first watched it, but it was still uncertain enough to keep the hype up for the next ep.

You're right about the pace of this series. It feels like it's going by fast, but you look at the episode numbers and in universe year dates you realize how much time has passed. I believe that at this point it's been about 2 years since Ippo's pro debut.
