About Yoshikawa's shirt, the thing is he probably can't read what it says. Since English is the most spoken language in the world, it's seen as cool in Japan. So it ended up becoming fashionable in Japan to wear shirts with English words on them.

The room Yoshikawa and Uehara were in, the cave with the rather nice Crucifix carved into it. Was supposedly the sight of treasure hidden by Japanese Christians during the Shogunate's persecution of Christians. Looking at it though, the treasure was most likely just stuff like Communion Plates/Goblets, and a Crucifix. No doubt valuable, but not the sort of horde that Onizuka was probably expecting. Around the time of the Battle of Okinawa during WW2 it was probably repurposed as a bomb shelter. Chances are the inhabitants of the island were all so called "Secret Christians" so their makeshift church in the cave was a natural bombshelter.
