Was waiting for this ep since ep 1. It’s amazing how we go from despising umezawa to absolutely loving him and it doesn’t even feel forced

Rewatching this for the first time in a while, they really nailed umesawas transferrence from bully to one of the best friends you could have in anime.

This development isn't just great for Ippo, but also for Umezawa. He's able to shed the last bits of his "half asses delinquent" past by dedicating himself to a grueling schedule for a friend. Also it's a little moment, but I love Fuji sending those tapes to Ippo. Dude is a true fan.
