Apparently you missed it: Doraemon is a character from anime of the same name, his hands were drawn as spheres.

Onizuka is better driving with motorbikes, so can't really blame his car skills. Also the Kenshiro joke works better now that you have seen some episodes of Fist of the North Star.

You should google up a picture of "Doraemon". It's a blue anime cat with big hands. Onizuka was referencing another show. Oh and when he was on fire doing the fast punches he was referencing Kenshiro the guy from Fist of the North star.
