I feel confident that someday Thorfinn will kill this asshole... I'm just not sure how he'll feel about it at the time.

God I love the art in this show - every other frame is like a painting

This shows visuals are pretty awesome not sure if its this episode or the next but theres one scene with a viking and the flames and you can see like the ecstasy on the guys face like he lives for this its too bad it went under the radar for alot of people because of it being on Prime and not only that it was a double paywall when it came out because it was on their shortlived Anime Strike service

Dandy

As soon as Ylva, who was all gung ho for getting a slave to do all the work, started willingly doing every chore her family needed to take care of, you could immediately tell that it was setting up to punch you right in the feels later down the line. And when Helga takes the weaving tool from her hand and Ylva just tries to keep her hand moving to keep her mind off of her sadness, you know that feels punch is here...

Redemption

Man.. Askeladd respected Thors so much he asked to be lead by him in ep 4. Then he starts to respect his son. Could of killed that kid so many times. Askeladd, like us, can see how far he came on his own and if it was a regular crew member that dagger throw would of got them probably. Thors did die a normal death, everyone does, just getting their can be different. I want Askeladd to die but he is interesting.

The amazing thing about this episode is that except for the scenes with Ylva, none of this was in the Manga. The section we've seen so far was actually a flashback that Thorfinn was having. The Anime decided to put everything in chronological order instead. Which I suppose makes sense, starting off with a pilot, then four episodes of flashback doesn't make very good television. But as I said they did a great job of creating content where there wasn't any in the original source material. Though they do take cues from later on in the story to show how Thorfinn learns to hunt and how he trains. Also Ylva being overly pragmatic is something of a traditions in Viking Sagas. There's a very famous saying from the era "Cold are the counsels of women."

I read this somewhere else and I thought it was a cool little detail. When Bjorn was picking the mushrooms, he was lowkey showing Thorfinn which mushrooms were edible. He also didn't pick them all leaving some for Thorfinn.

You read this in the comment section of the Semblance of Sanity reaction to this episode, didn't you?
