Okay, so I watched the first 6 episodes a long time ago and re-watched them and just watched this episode for the first time so I am right along with you on this journey. So, all of my thoughts will be my thoughts as I will not have any future knowledge as to what happens. So, I can't help but think the neighbor chick is the one that was at the beginning of the last episode that was reporting to the church dudes. But does she have a thing for Maou or is that just a cover? I don't know but I can't wait to find out.

Had to read the light novel to find out what that orange ball was that the cashier threw at the assailant. Turns out, it's an anti-criminal paintball. Releases a powerful smell AND it's really hard to wash off. The idea being, it becomes really easy to discover the perp after they've been hit by one of those.
