I think a big reason for why you actually like Gin, is because of his voice actor. He does an excellent job at sounding really smug, nonchalant and laid back, while always having a humorous tinge to most of his dialogue. That, coupled with that permanent grin and a consistent personality, makes him really likable in a strange way!
