Baraggan is the "King of Hueco Mundo" and was the strongest being there, until Aizen showed up. He is thousands of years old and is even older than Yamamoto. Before he became an Arrancar, he had other Vasto Lordes hollows as slaves. If you notice, he never uses Cero, like other Arrancar. A theory is that he either forgot how to, or his Respira is his Cero. Either way, he is an oddity for Vasto Lordes, as his form is a Skeleton, where every other Arrancar has a human flesh look to them.

I always found that 'dragon gate' whatever spell the pink stache used kinda "useless".. Can't you just go around it? It's like 10m wide and maybe 20m tall... Edit, oh right it was only part of the spell (commented on halfway the episode) ..But Baraggan still had plenty of time to go around imo.

Well it was to stop any further direct attack to buy some time, and the king is to arrogan to bother goin around, and also it was part of the 4 gates combined. But its not the first time either, byakua vs the 7 espada, and tessai vs aizen, but was for for an escape than anything.

not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet but all the espadas represent an aspect of death. 9 - aaroniero is greed, 8 - szayelappora is madness,7 - zommari is intoxication, 6 - grimmjow is destruction, 5- nnoitora is despair,4 - ulquiorra is nihilism, 3 - harribel is sacrifice, 2 - baraggan is time (aging), 1 starrk is isolation and number 0 yammy is rage (not really important, I just think its really cool

Honestly, as of late it feels like Curtis intentionally (or subconsciously) increases his reactions to certain characters for no real reason, overreacting in a word, i guess. Yami is a good example, he got nothing but a simple impression from him and that decided his whole character for him for a while. Its like seeing someone pick their nose once and deciding they're a disgusting assclown for the rest of their life,
