you know what is even crazier curtis? there are 2 more backstories that you will see later in one piece that are even more heart wrenching and amazing

So, three things: first we get sabo coming in like a Ben Kenobi force ghost guiding Luffy. Second I want to say that Makino is super cute and really underappreciated overall. And third I just want to say that Luffy's sandals are probably the strongest item in this show, cause it looks like he hasn't changed them since the flashback, they made it through all the crazy stuff that's happened in this series, and they want us to believe they are just made out of regular straw.

Like Dadan said: "Shut up! I'm not crying!!" 😭😭 Also Windmill villagers don't know Ace, except for the mayor and Makino. So that's why that guy asked "who's Ace?"

If you think Luffy's first boat was bad, allow me to refresh your memory: That boat sank. You see that barrel behind him? He was floating around in that in the very first episode.

Curtis you forgot. Luffy used to live before in the Windmill Village and joined later Ace on the mountains. The people who were saying goodbye to Luffy were the villagers. Ace didn't live with the villagers but with Dadan (Bandits). Ace was secretly living in the mountains. The people don't know Ace because only Luffy came from their village. That's why you see much more people seeing Luffy off than with Ace
