This back story was truly amazing but with the deaths of Luffys brothers and the state he’s in in the present (both physically and mentally) there is such an uneasy/looming Presence over this whole backstory

An interesting contrast to me with the fight with blue jam, because for Luffy it was shanks, a pirate, who saved him from some mountain bandits, for ace it was dadan, a mountain bandit, who saved him from some pirates.

The way Garp described Roger is eerily similar to how someone could describe Luffy, you know. I mentioned one theory in a comment on the previous episode, so here's another: Some people (a lot of people, actually) believe that Luffy is actually Roger's reincarnation. It seems like every single time Luffy runs into someone that knew Roger in life, he reminds that person of Roger. I'm honestly a bit of a fan of this theory because it's like saying that Roger has no regrets and would do it all again if given the chance. I wonder how Oda feels about some of these (honestly pretty believable) fan theories.
