We were talking about that before. While I do hate him, and anything's possible, it's unlikely. Only because, as much as he's a piece of shit, Captain Magma is doing his job. Arlong, on the other hand, is just a bullying piece of shit that preys on the innocent! :-)

And this is why Akainu is basically the most hated Admiral in all of one piece. Seeing this scene and all of the next few episodes always, ALWAYS makes me cry when I watch it. I've probably seen it like 40 times not even kidding and every time I cry. Heck I'm crying as I type this. I hate this part. And I'm also happy I get to see how you react to it.

I remember watching these last three episodes for the first time three summers ago. It went a little something like... "Hahahaha stupid Marines, of course Luffy rescued Ace! No one dies in One Piece, Pell even survived a nuke! They especially wouldn't kill the main characters brother. It's so cool seeing them fight together again, what a great combo! I can't wait to see the Straw Hats and the Whitebeard Pirates team up in the fu...... Luffy?? Luffy you don't need that vivre card anymore, you already have Ace......... No.... no. NO. WHAT THE FUCK. I think Akainu's manipulation of getting Ace to turn to fight him is very underrated. Nothing he says is specifically untrue, but it looks at the situation through a very cruel and negative lens. I think it's a good lesson for everyone. Anything can seem bad if you try to see it that way.

Akainu is just being akainu. But that was pure bait. His style in this war has been to cause psychological and mental stress to diminish the enemies forces and he succeeded all the way to the very end.
