Garp actually refused the Admiral position multiple times. If I remember correctly, he had all the freedom he wanted from his Vice Admiral position and didn't want to be bothered with the extra work from being an Admiral. Hope this clear things up. I'm pretty sure this is never stated in the anime, it's actually part of a manga chapter that was made exclusively for a movie.

"Did I deserve to be born?" isnt quite right. "Was it a good thing that I was born?" is more accurate. Some of these subs take a few to many liberties.

It kinda feels like the battlefield changes whenever Luffy is on it, like he makes the pirates rush forward.I keep wanting to explain him in game terms as some kind of battlefield modifier that seems to have an occasional cooldown.

With Luffy shaving off his lifespan twice now, I always thought it would be hilarious if at the very end of the series he finally get One Piece and then falls over dead right after that. Being rough on your body has a price heh.

It seems a bit more likely that it will be somewhat like Roger. He will be dying at the end and then choose where to die.

I always thought it was interesting to see how the average person viewed Gol D. Roger as compared to a pirate like Luffy. Though we've also seen he wasn't exactly popular amongst some of the other pirates as well. Still, that bit of emotional turmoil form Ace about whether he deserved to be born hits hard.
