Fun fact: in the OG manga Ken and Shin (King) fight almost immediately after this. The anime moved two arcs that happen after that fight to before it because they are much worse than that fight. It also adds quite a bit of filler. I’m not saying that this is bad, I honestly like that there’s more build-up and we get the boring stuff out of the way. Shin deserves this type of anticipation. I think the Toei staff did a good job with his character.

I remember, when I was a like 3 or 4 (yes, I was watching Fist of the North Star as a toddler), I had a crush on Rin. I'm pretty sure she was my first. It was either her or Kari from Digimon. I also remember desperately wanting to see Ken train Bat on how to use some of his techniques.
