Miklar Sihn

This is one of, if not the, best final episode in anime.

Anonymous

Hey Curtis have you checked out Steins;Gate? If not I’d recommend it heavily. It’s a drama filled time travel adventure that’s worth the watch

Anonymous

So in the Original Japanese ending, Lelouch Survives because he had gained the code of immortality by killing his father, and is the person driving the carriage with C2 on it

J Johnson

Curtis, there is a movie sequel for this, it just came out a short time ago, make sure to watch it even if not on the channel. You had pretty good timing watching this now as you didn't have to wait like 6 years in between heh.

Aidan

One of the best endings in anime ever. I swear that "obey me world" speech from Lelouch always gives me the chills. This series will always be one of the greats.i swear the catchphrase "Lelouch vi Britannia commands you" is etched on the most memorable catchphrases in anime history. There is no one in the anima fandom that doesn't know the name Lelouch vi Britannia. Hehehe 😈. So nothing like code ment when you reacted to it am I right? Hehehe. God I love his Majesty. The best parts of this anime for me at least where those strategic battles his majesty was a part off. I don't know why I found them awesome but I did. Like I said before he is like the ultimate itachi with what he did. One Las time gooshers and Curtis! "All hail Britannia!! "All hail Lelouch!!" Hehehe

Miklar Sihn

In the original ending it was made very unclear and one person that worked on the series did say that he did not survive.

Miklar Sihn

Now we can actually put Schneizels plan up vs Lelouchs. Schneizel wanted to use the fear of Damocles to force peace. While Lelouch focused everyones hate on one character, himself, and then removed that character from the picture, making people work from a position of hope for the future.

SpazBoysComedy

It may make it here someday relatively soon. It always gets support in the nominations. :-)

So according to the official statements from the creators, the zero requiem was designed to inflict the ultimate punishment to both Lelouch and Suzaku, death for Lelouch who wishes for a tomorrow with his sister, life for Suzaku who wishes to atone for his sins through death.

Schmul Sjifris

I'd say he did more than just make himself a symbol of hatred. That was the big thing of course but the world was screwed up. And someone with absolute authority over the whole thing was the only one who could straighten out or fix some of its problems. But a single person with that much power is bad. So what does he do? He makes himself a dictator only for a short timespan, fixes the problems (fully willing to take the blame and hatred for what he needs to do) and then dies letting the people of the world take it from there.

THIS is what I was waiting for... all Hail Lelouch, our own personal anime Jesus. <3 Peace unto you all, brothers and sisters, and remember... Love everybody. <3

Dylan Wade

I have logical qualms with this ending, but, the thematic perfection of it is unparalleled. Suzaku and Lelouch get justice for their crimes, Lelouch sacrifices himself, and Suzaku has to live on and atone. It's everything that neither wanted, it's why Lelouch calls it a punishment. Even though this isn't my favorite anime or even in my top 10, this ending is my favorite ending in any medium.

I definitley reccomed checking out the movie. You do need some context going in, as its based on a slightly different universe where things went a bit differently, but its a fantastic alternate ending to the story of code geass

Mikestrike

I love Nunally's voice actor in this episode. The change of her voice after being Geass'd going back to being innocent and pure like it was in the beginning of the series. Really shows how much she's had to change after everything has happened

Miklar Sihn

Yup, that can be seen in what he does when he takes over Britannia. He destroys the old corrupt power structure to make a more fair and efficient one, keeping himself on top though.

Dandy

One of my favorite aspects of this series, and this episode in particular, is the incredible use of subtle facial expression changes. The last scene of Lelouch's face as he walked away from Naunally first displays the shaky and unnerved face of a man on the verge of regretting everything he did, giving up, breaking down and running to help his sister, before it subtly cuts to a fiercer, more determined look forward, set out on the path he has laid before himself. The little things like that are what really solidified Code Geass's characters as "people" for me, they had things like wants, dreams, relationships and personality, all of it excellently conveyed to us throughout the story in a perfectly natural way. Great reactions as always, now we move onward and upward!

I've seen a lot of people in the past who say that the Zero Requiem wouldn't work because even if you remove the target of all the worlds hatred, people will just start hating other again, but that misses the point. It's not about immediately bring about absolute and eternal peace. It's about creating an instance where, for the first time, humanity is fully united. Lelouch is fully aware of humanity's nature. Conflict is something that we may never move past. But Lelouch also firmly believe that humanity can change, that some people will be able to put aside that desire for the sake of everyone. Those people were the ones that Lelouch had chosen when he founded the UFN in the first place. The only country who didn't have a leader like that was Britannia, and removing Schniezel and installing Nunnally fixes that quite nicely. The Zero Requiem doesn't immediately cause peace, because that would never happen. But it clears a stage where the rest of the world can work together towards that goal. It would only work because Lelouch and Suzaku believe in the will of mankind to strive for a better world, and Lelouch was willing to die to give them that chance. and if some force not affiliated with the UFN tries to cause trouble, well ideally the Black Knights would be able to defeat them. That's why Suzaku was left alive. By becoming Zero, he captures the hearts of the people, takes firm hold of Schneizel's leash, and becomes the final protector of the world, fighting against anyone who tries to disrupt the peace countless people have died to create in this series. The Knight of Zero has become Zero himself.

"Those who would kill, should be prepared to be be killed." Lelouch vi Britannia, someone who practices what he preaches. The Zero Requiem. One of the epic moments in anime. I especially love it because it's one of the few legendary anime originals (no manga source material). So much we could talk about. Regarding the very last line, where it seems like C.C. is talking to Lelouch, there are three main theories/possibilities: 1. Lelouch fulfilled his contract and took C.C.'s code, meaning that when he was stabbed he was immortal like she had been and that he was the driver of the cart she was talking to. 2. Lelouch died and she was talking to him in C's world. 3. She was just sort of poetically talking to herself. So choose your headcanon, whichever you like more. I don't think the creators have ever actually explained which was the correct interpretation if there even is a correct one. And now one last time, unironically, all hail Lelouch!

Anonymous

In the end, I guess Lelouch actually did want LOVE AND PEACE! LOVE AND PEACE! LOVE AND PEACE!

Jeremiah

I said in the first few episodes (in jest) Jeremiah was my favorite character but he certainly turned out interesting huh? lol "Orange is the name of my loyalty". Lloyd was my actual favorite... but I loved seeing an anime character with my name!

Anonymous

The director's commentary makes it clear that from the outset, the story would end with Lelouch's death. So the first one is out. He dies in the series. The movie trilogy is a different story, but that was produced years afterwards when the internet was exploding with claims of the Emperor's survival, so...

Kakashi

The only person who can truly checkmate Lelouch is Lelouch

Ultra Power

This is my favorite episode In all of anime

Just some stuff that I thought was cool. When Orange boy and pink hair were staring at each other and pink hair was talking about having no memory Jeremiah opened up his geass canceller(which we can assume erases all geasses, not just lelouch's) and that's probably why they're working to gether as a favor to Jeramiah for restoring her memory. Also when Lelouch Geassed Schitzel he said "you will follow zero" not just lelouch so he's still Suzaku's bitch boy.

Irimu

This is why Code Geass will never be surpassed in terms of its perfect ending

ArcaneAnomaly

I love the parallels of Lelouch's and Euphemia's deaths; the person who loved them grieving over them, while in the background, the people everywhere cheer the name of their assassin; the same name. "Zero!"

Anonymous

Now you know why so many of us hounded you to watch Code Geass.

Anonymous

You have to react to code geass resurrection now!

Anonymous

Resurrection isn't canon to the main series, and Curtis doesn't react to movies due to issues with Fair Use. If he wants to watch it, he should feel free, but some of it will not make sense (Shirley being alive being one of the major ones)

Anonymous

Don't sound like such a cuck Harold

Miasimon

Lloyd has a point, though. War (or competition in general) IS the mother of invention. Without war, nations wouldn't be driven to compete and outdo eachother. Without missiles being invented, we would have never had the moon landing and the ISS wouldn't exist. It's ugly and I don't like it, but that's just how people work. Also, fucking Orange Boy did the thing that makes me call him Best Girl: "Memorize this! Memorize Jeremiah Gottwald! Commit it it memory, because that's the memorable name of the man who has defeated you!" Carrier exploded? He jumps out in his Knightmare. Nightmare disabled and destroyed? The madman lunges onto a Knight of the Round's Knightmare in person with sword in hand.

LireKlein

It takes balls to go down in history as the monster, but also shoutout to my man Jeremiah the absolute legend, "Orange boy" went from a mockery to a badge of honor.

Anonymous

It's not really a sequel, it's a continuation of the recap films which is an alternate universe

Anonymous

Always thought it was touching that Jeremiah took Anya in. Maybe she'll finally be able to have a somewhat normal life now.

Anonymous

I love the final battle between Suzaku and Kallen. It's a total breakdown, with all their fancy power ups failing as the fight progresses. It was a worthy finale to their rivalry throughout the show

The Gimpster 101

As we've told you about Code Geass, it aims to be Biblical. Being Biblical here takes on every meaning of the word. Truly a great ending.

RyssaVionus

Every time I rewatch this, I wonder if I finally won't cry like a baby over Lelouch's death scene. ...Today was not that day.

Anonymous

Can anyone put together a compilation of the ending of each reaction to Code Geass? I am gonna guess, completely blind, that 90% of the episodes end in "What the F***?"

Anonymous

You do know, Chris, there is a follow-up movie, set about two years (I think) into the future, despite being an alternate timeline. I'm sure that SOME fans, (like myself) would enjoy seeing you watch it. I have seen it, myself, and all I can say... it is a movie of miraculous proportions, without being too spoil-rific. IF NOT, have you by chance, seen Devil is a Part-timer? That is one I think you'll enjoy as it's a silly, and downright funny, short (12 or 13 episodes) adventure that takes the entire idea of good and evil, and flips it on it's head.

Heavenly Demon

Isn't there a season 3 to this or like a movie that came out recently that is canon to this ?

Rue Surnameunimportant

Wait... wait. Suzaku had to murder him and take on a deal, etc etc, lie, look bad, and we got no idea how he is handling this? That was a huge ass let-down. I still enjoyed the episode, but how is that not part of the finale??
