Huh. I think this may be the first time I've actually disagreed with Curtis about something. That's new. The first time I saw this episode back in...holy shit, 2010? I felt the same way as Curtis during the first half of the Ghost story. Then the twist happened and I was like "Wait, did P+S actually just make me feel something?" The way it's all put together with the music, more sober color scheme and what is actually a fairly grounded, human character (once you get past the over-the-top gross factor) with really relatable regrets. He's literally the amalgamation of souls who died without ever feeling loved, and that shit is legit sad. I feel like we actually caught a glimpse of something deeper with Stocking besides her usual shenanigans and it's times like this that make me remember that this does indeed come from the same studio that gave us Gurren Lagann and Evangelion. I hadn't seen this episode in ten years and it still hits me just like it did back then.
