To a high degree I think he meant that no one can crush me because Im rubber quite litterally. The series, the anime far more so, I think has given a false idea of how susceptible Luffy is to blunt attacks. Luffy can take a punch that can break an island in two, and it wont do shit to him. Stupid stupid Moria... He should have settled for 300 shadows or whatever or tried to get away with his shadow switching thing. Not as smart as he likes to believe now is he? If you recall the shadows are supposed to give the abilities of the original owner and all Moria got was brute force cause he overloaded himself way too much. In fact, wouldnt he have had a decent chance if he had just taken Luffys shadow alone or just the strawhats? Now, now. I dont think Moria is really all that strong but I have to say his ability is fantastic. Maybe not for straight up fighting but he can build pretty solid immortal armies and he could stuff allies to make Nightmare Luffys if he had any real allies that weren't zombies! Wonder what happens if you stick multiple shadows in one zombie🤔 Probably wouldnt work

You'll find that most people that Luffy has fought so far, has vastly underestimated him. Sadly, Moria fell victim to Crocodile's mistake and thought Luffy would be simple to take down, despite their weaknesses being known. Imagine if some big bad guys decided to take the Straw Hats seriously for once.

One thing I find interesting with this arc after the last arc is the connection between the shadows and their new boat the Thousand Sunny. Their first adventure on the Thousand Sunny they face an enemy and were able to release one thousand shadows and allowing those thousand individuals to come out into the sunlight.
