I'm thinking this may be the swan song for our pal, Reiner. If so, it's unfortunate that he did, indeed, have to go.

Reiner actually figured out what Erwin's plan was; To change Reiner's objective from the horses to Eren. The great part about this is that even if Reiner figures out the plan he has no choice but to change objectives anyway, or else risk letting Eren get away or even drive the Beast titan into a corner. What I like about this plan is that it only works if their enemy is somewhat intelligent and can see that far ahead.

For me the Sasquatch's throwing the rock last episode looked more like Olympic level of shot putter 😅

That short scene you saw in Erwin's flashback that you didn't seem to recognize is from the No Regrets OVA.

Yes it's pretty impeccable form. Isyama and the animators take a lot from real life sports, wether they be combat sports or Olympic. One time Isyama and a mma fighter(who was a fan of the series) interviewed and they were nerding out over each other's hobbies/careers. It is pretty cool as you can tell how much he puts into his manga.

I love how Erwin just stood completely unmoved a few metres away from the armoured titan on his own then beat him in a stare-off

What Erwin was talking about and feeling guilty for is the fact that all other Scouts acted selflessly for the greater good of humanity, while Erwin himself acted for a selfish dream, considering it more important than humanity's victory as he himself admitted it to Levi. It got worse when he became a leader, serving as an inspiration, an example, and telling them to 'give up their hearts' (give up not only their lives but all their emotions and other desires) for humanity's future; in essence, being a hypocrite and indirectly lying to them since he wasn't doing the same.
