I don't agree with the heavy-handed way the Captain handled Eren's situation. He may have made things worse for all!

Everything new is not just an opportunity but a potential threat. It is worth remembering that for all they know, eren has been placed there to destroy any defences against the armored titan, which would mean that somewhere around 80% of humanity would die. So in that panicked moment, his position is fairly understandable... If completely wrong. The fact is that humanity might on one hand gain a powerful weapon, but that is balanced with the possibility that it might die off. So it really isnt black and white.

I think not believing that they'll be able to restain him with any certainty is part of that fear. They can take him maybe? Doubt they even think they can. But can they be sure he wont turn into a titan and kill them all regardless? Aiming a cannon at him to be able to kill him at any time or just killing him straight up is prolly the only way to feel somewhat safe. And I dont think they actually trust aiming the cannon at him. Titans are terrifying and there is no precedent for a friendly titan. Even surrounding him, I dont think they actually feel they have the upperhand, they're scared out of their minds. That being said... Ya, the captain is an incompetent idiot coward unfit for his position.

I would argue that the only halfway decent moves they have, with what is at stake is to either kill Eren, as he is a potential threat that could lead to the death of 80% of humanity. Or they could try to move him outside the walls until the current situation is handled. Losing another wall would make the slaughter last time look like an easy and morally clear decision. We are talking about loosing pretty much all the remaining farmland. The only reason they kept as many people as they did is that humanity is basically mostly living as vegetarians, because they cant actually afford meat. So while the captain is clearly a coward and happens to be wrong. But he isnt an idiot.

Curtis have you considerd watching some of the shows that are more ”emotional” like angel beats, Anohana or Clannad? Would defenitly recomend Clannad to you because it is a show that focus alot on the importance of family and is one of my personal favorites. One of the few shows where you get to follow the main charachters after the ”ordinary anime high school setting” and see how life is after that period. Also is without a doubt the anime that have made me cry like a bitch the most. Hope you consider it and can squeze it in somewhere in your( albeit very busy) schedule. Love from Sweden 😀

I would just give you one tip... dont make pools right after season of anime ended, because many times on many other people's pools the just ended shows were pushed by the fact that people just watched the shows... example demon slayer (kimetsu no yaiba) on your last pool.... and then many times after few months, when the hype died, they got much less votes.

I mean, that captain was the same one who abandoned the supply team with all the veteran garrison units. So basically an established coward.

I remember my stupid little theory back when I first found out that titan was Eren. I thought the titans were like zombies (easy to see why... they're mindless, maneating and hard to kill) and humans that they eat were somehow converted to titans. The first 2.5 seasons of this show just go out of their way to encourage theories. They're my favorite thing to hear about when watching people react to this show.
