Absolutely Abridged is better than original, though it has it's low points too...

The original SAO was pretty much your standard male wish-fulfilment fantasy where mister perfect generic nice guy wins at everything and has loads of girls who want to bang him. Which is fine if you like that sort of thing but is kind of boring compared to the abridged version

Good breakdown... That's the vibe I'd been getting from a lot of people; that the abridged makes the characters more interesting than the original. :-)

The original isn’t as bad as some would have you believe, in fact I think you’d enjoy it despite it’s flaws, but there’s no doubt the abridged is just better in every way.

The original is good for what it is, but it does make quite a few major mistakes. So it really depends on your mindset when you watch it. But yeah, curtis is great at liking things for what they are.
