I really like this episode because it finally starts to put the overall power of the straw hats in perspective. Up to this point Luffy seemed basically unstoppable. The only times he really struggled were when he fought crocodile and when Enel trapped him in the golden ball. This episode expanded on that to show that in terms of the overall world, the straw hats aren’t that strong. Luffy was a big fish in a small pond before but when it comes to the the rest of the world, there are many people stronger than him. Admiral Aokiji was the first true example of that. Luffy is no where near strong enough to handle an admiral or even most warlords right now. Remember, he even lost to Crocodile 2 times before he managed to scrape by a win. This episode serves as a wake up call not just to the straw hats but to the audience as well to show that the main characters are not that strong in the grand scheme of things.

If you can have a shark in the sky, a skyshark, then it only stands to reason that you can have a train in the sea. A sea-train. So, this is the level of an Admiral. At this point in the series my first go around I really loved the fact that One Piece is able to give you glimpses of people who are far superior to the strawhat crew to give us a sense of scale. First with Mihawk treating Zoro like a toddler and now with Admiral Aokiji. It grows the world that we are immersed in. Most other shonen anime whenever a "bad guy" is introduced we see our protagonist overcome all obstacles to defeat this bad guy before moving on. Not One Piece, though. Hawkeye Mihawk came, conquered, then left. Admiral Aokiji came, conquered, then left.

We're getting into the really good stuff now. Aokiji is my personal favorite of the Admirals, wonder what your opinion of the other two will be. The show really gives you a good idea of just how far apart the Admirals are from the Strawhats in terms of power. From what you can tell by his power, Aokiji is a Logia type Devil Fruit user, just like Eneru, Smoker, Ace ect. So he's already got the strongest type of fruit. Time will show the extent of his abilities.

I like how you called an admiral a "villain". Reminder that the Navy ARE the good guys. When people are in danger, they turn to the Navy for help. Technically, the Straw Hats are villains that just happen to do more good than harm.

The 3 admirals are terrifying. Aokiji could’ve ended the straw hats lives in an instant if he wanted to. This is where the world building really picks up.
