This is where i drop death note, no joke it hit me hard.

Anciient

Oh man, I know its coming, and it's still painful.

Anonymous

The scene where L dried Lights feet is supposed to be a reference to when Jesus washed the feet of Judas, the man who would betray him.

Anonymous

Jesus that part where he was cleaning his feet was a huge jesus-bible parallel. Maybe because Jesus was the one who was cleaning the feet in the Bible means that light is not god to L?

Scryehard

All the rules in the death note that are shown in the middle of the episodes are all real rules, which you'll get if you buy the official Death Note merchandise death note, and all of them are taken into account when someone is killed in the show.

grimmjow

L didn't die from the death note, it was diabetes from all the junk food

ChubbyDuckling2

Some day in the future when Curtis knows his time is near, "The trains are unusually loud today"

ChubbyDuckling2

Hey Curtis, wanted to let you know there's a deleted scene from the show you can check out on YouTube called "L's Funeral" you might wanna check it out although if u do I would suggest waiting until you've finished the series as it kind of spoils a bit of Character Development which is why I'm assuming they took the scene out of the show.

Benjamin Myers

This is 100% my favorite episode in the series the symbolism is amazing the scene of L washing lights feet that shot of light when his face was distorted by the glass stairs Misa's song the bells and the rain stoping when L asked light if he ever told the truth was so fucking cool

Scryehard

Now that Rem killed L for Misa, that means Misa got Rem's remaining lifespan. At this point, Misa might very well become the longest living human in history.

astherphoenixxx96

i agree with u curtis. L looked like he was contemplating death. i think he knew exactly what was happening and he cant prove anything without him having to die. which either way does not mean what he wants to prove is proved

PKKite

Christian denominations that observe foot washing do so on the basis of the authoritative example and command of Jesus as found in John 13:1–15 (NKJV): Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end. And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him; Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God; He riseth from supper, and laid aside his garments; and took a towel, and girded himself. After that he poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded. Then cometh he to Simon Peter: and Peter saith unto him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter. Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me. Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head. Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash his feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all. For he knew who should betray him; therefore said he, Ye are not all clean. So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you? Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. Some context of the feet washing scene and why they had multiple shots held on it. Basically L is Jesus washing the feet.

I hate Rem like L already has to deal with 2 people with Death Notes now he had to deal with a shinigami with emotions

SpazBoysComedy

I was wondering about that... I couldn't remember who it was - I'm not much of a Bible scholar - but I was thought I remembered a foot washing incident from the Bible. :-)

SpazBoysComedy

I didn't think about that until later, but yea, Misa is making a run towards eternity here. :-D

Schmul Sjifris

And you know the amazing part? You know the reveal in the last episode? All according the plan? It's very likely this was part of that plan too. Meaning, he went from a situation where Misa was captured and he was next, to a situation where Rem and L were gone and he could take charge to search for Kira himself (good luck with that). That is a master turnaround indeed.

This episode really broke me first time watching it, it wasn't a deserving death, especially Lights smirk at the end, is just cruel

Anonymous

Your very lucky to not get spoilers lol, I'm in a anime group on Facebook and people constantly spoil Demon slayer for new comers, even deaths to characters yet to be introduced in the anime

Anonymous

That scene of Light standing in front of the glass stairs with his face split in two is one of my favorite shots in anything.

Miklar Sihn

This is just the single best play in the story till now. And the whole intro thing seems to be involved with someone crying because someone died from what i have gotten out of it.

Morgan

UGHHHH this episode never gets any easier. Though, it is indeed a masterpiece. Yeah, I got the impression that L knew he was gonna die. I was surprised he went out this soon. And as someone else said, there is a scene called "L's Funeral" but I also recommend waiting until the end of the series to watch it. My favorite is gone and I am sooooo upset T____T

Wishmaker007

Noooooooo, my favorite character of all time! It’s a shame but he simply ran out of time and cards that light had plenty of, sigh :,(

Anonymous

all he had to do was see if the 13 day rule was fake and it would prove lights kira, that’s all he had left to do and he already had the plan

Thomastheterminator

While episodes 1-25 are near-universally considered a masterpiece, the rest of the series starting with 26 is one of those things that are hit or miss for people. That’s not to say the show ever gets bad, some people just think L’s replacement isn’t as interesting and therefore the 2nd half of the show is weaker than the 1st. I personally think it’s just as good, but I do understand the criticisms. Interested to see your take when all is said and done.

Miasimon

"Yeah, how are there episodes left? It's over!" Funny enough, that's how a LOT of Death Note fans feel. The show just drops in quality after L's death... I mean it doesn't get "bad", it just isn't nearly as fun without Light and L's dynamic.

Anonymous

Couldn't agree more. I love the 2nd part of the show, but I'm curious about your reactions.

Ryan Gillatt

The way L says "It'll be lonely, won't it?" is filled with so much sadness, it always gets to me.

Chris

L will be missed :( If you've ever used myanimelist he's the 2nd most favorited character on the website so I'm sure a lot of people had the same reaction as you.

And this is the point where it ENDS and the story feels rushed and shit with more ass pulls than what Sasuke Uchiha got in Naruto. The writing gets so lazy and and things just happen for the sake of it and to just proceed to the final episode taking a huge shit on all these previous episodes and character buildups. It made me both angry and sad how shit is the second part and how many of the great decisions and thinking that made Light great go out the window just for the sake of the plot.

food. just food

out with L and in with my favorite character very soon

I don't like it when people throw out opinions like this. Curtis hasn't finished the series, yet you are commenting about these episodes he hasn't seen, in the process influencing his view of the upcoming arc and throwing negativity on it. Imo once he has seen it you are free to give your opinion but until then, I don't see any point in this comment.

Koala Banana

Can you explain further? How exactly is L being like Jesus with reference to this passage? Obviously they're both washing the feet of their betrayer. But what else, and what does it mean? For me, (and we've discussed this before I'm pretty sure) the scene communicates that L has accepted that Light is God. Not literally, but effectively. Light might as well be God. "Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God; He riseth from supper..." This is a perfect example of Light as God. Light has just orchestrated everything. He gave L a case to solve (Yotsuba), he gave L the conclusion (catching Higuchi), he even gave L the answer to the critical mystery (how does Kira kill; the Death Note), and finally L is given death, all by Kira's will. Everything L had was given by God, and realizing this, to God he willingly surrenders. Light here is acting as both Judas and God. Remember how Jesus has that one moment of blaming God, questioning God why his crucifixion must happen? Jesus doesn't stick with that opinion, but from that perspective his crucifixion is ultimately God's fault, not Judas'. Thus we could even drop the comparison of Light as Judas and just think of Light as the version of God whom is responsible for the death of Jesus. Light does not kill L himself but he organizes events so that it happens, just like God did to Jesus.

Koala Banana

It absolutely was part of the plan. All the way down to Misa making the eye deal with Ryuk for a second time. That was the purpose of having the notebook change ownership from Rem to Ryuk by passing it in a circle. Rem would not let Misa make the eye deal but Ryuk would.

Koala Banana

I encourage people to take seriously the comparison of Kira to God. Its not just a childish desire for power. Its an apt comparison.

Anonymous

her voice was so perfect for that song. Scary and still interesting. Like I really get a bit of her personality. Yet it is just a show XD

Phillip Ribbink

And now Light is in possession of three Death Notes. One to keep the task force distracted. One for Misa to keep killing criminals with to keep the aforementioned task force busy. And another to put to whatever other uses he may have for it.

Anonymous

this was good. but I can think of a twist that would have done more. If L had no heart. Like if it was replaced with a robotic one. Yet I don't know what time this is all set in or if the makers of this would think that way. it would have been the only card L could play. Too bad to see him go

PKKite

Jesus cleaned Judus the betrayer's feet before death

PKKite

And this is where people quit because they had a hard on for L and had to cry and refuse the series went on.

Anonymous

I don't really clearly remember the show or the ending. I do remember that there is a part 2 after this Death note ends. If I can find the name or clips. I might try to suggest it after this is over.

astherphoenixxx96

If rem was very smart, she would have killed light yagami from the start. Because even though misa is happy she is purely being used by light

Anonymous

The show just introduced a lot of asspulls just for the plot and the sake of the protagonists after this point thats why people quit. The same reason why many hate Universe 6 female saiyans in DBS

Koala Banana

No, because that defeats her entire purpose. That would make Misa miserable, which is the only thing Rem cares about. Even if she is being used by Light that's what makes her happy.

Anonymous

For me the show ends here because it annoys me that the author tries to get away with getting the shock value of the bold ending to the story and then keeps going. I dont hate the second half, i just find it unnecessary and kinda cheap. Those who enjoy it, I respect your opinion but I stand by mine. Watched part 2 twice just to be sure and that was two times too many. That said the reactions were awesome, really enjoyed the whole thing.

PKKite

Its hilarious how many people didnt spoil up to this point or foreshadow anything yet after its something they dont care about screw curtis's experience trash talk the whole rest of the show.

Anonymous

And that's why i love light as a character.

Anonymous

It's not a deleted scene. It's part of an hour long series recap special episode.

Charlie baker

Yes long live kira glad to see l gone
