There is the whole moment at 7:40, where Light says he will kill Ray's loved ones and Ray gives it away. He is threatening someone he just found out existed and doesn't know shit about and just making up a lie on the spot.

Light still holds to his ideals while killing the FBI agents and Police because they are defined as evil. Everyone who fights his great mission has to be evil from his point of view.

And the worst part, Rei is domed to drift in the void forever because he used the death note. I generally like calculating antihero characters but Light is just an ass. Not to mention a giant fucking hypocrit. Its been a while since I disliked a character this much.

Thing is though that in all of Light's interactions with Ray up to this point. He's always erred on the side of caution. Telling Light not to go for the bus jacker's gun, telling him that the police can't know that the FBI are operating in Japan. So odds were pretty good that he'd err on the side of caution again. Also seeing someone being able to kill someone in a way that should be impossible, would have an unbelievable psychological effect. Not to mention Light seized upon the mention of his girlfriend and masterfully bluffed to exploit that weakness.

Light killing Ray was probably one of his biggest mistakes. Instead of having someone follow him for a week or two (seriously, if he'd have waited a few more days, Ray would have left him alone), he just bought himself a professional investigator hellbent on finding Kira. Death Note is a battle between arrogance (Light) and confidence (L) and I love that.

i think this act wasnt as ballsy as you think curtis. he wrote this whole Scenario in the death note, same with the drug addict from the Episode before. he had to act a specific way. he couldnt just turn around or remember Lights voice because that would alter his Actions written in the death note

it seemed very much like a Live stream. how the recording of you glitched & u reacted to it. was sort of good timing and funny at just the right time and the show did not stop....

so in this eps he Learned that he can wright the way they die first and the name after. As well as how someone else can wright the names and not touch the note. I really like seeing this again after so long
