The Abyssal Drink

I love how normal Light's father's introduction is. We meet him in the last episode and his unremarkable entrance lets us know that he is important enough to be shown doing so and then in this episode he arrives at Light's home and is called father, not an ounce of worry on Light's face (it actually looks kinda sinister). Never once was his father mentioned beforehand and it's so normal, nothing is forced, and no hints. At first, we think Light has access to only a gun against L's sniper rifle, but then it turns out that Light has a sniper rifle too and can track the investigation and subsequently L.

it is really raining & Lightning out. Sort of set a good mood for viewing 2 Death notes back to back.

Been a while since I first learned about the Shinigami eye deal. But honestly it's somewhat like a traditional Japanese story I once heard in another Anime. There was a thief who once met a Shinigami. A God of death, naturally the man feared that the Shinigami was there because he was gonna die. Instead the Shinigami told him that he would share a secret with him. That would make him very rich. He taught him a spell so he'd be able to see Shinigami. If the Shinigami was at someone's feet it meant the person had life left in them. If they were at their head the end was near. The Shinigami also taught the man how to extend the life of others by transferring their flame of life from one candle to another. The thief went on to be a rather wealthy doctor. Until one day the Shinigami returned and told him his time had finally come. That his own candle of life had burned down to barely anything. But he would give him one chance transfer the flame to another candle before it went out. The thief of course was under a lot of pressure as it was his own life own the line. He trembled so much that he put his own flame out and died.
