There’s tons of foreshadowing in these Jaya episodes, you realize them as you get further into the story. Even as a someone who’s seen the series for years it amazes how far back the setups were established.

LOL! I think a lot of it is the huge impression Shanks made on me. I REALLY liked that guy!... Plus, I've become such an anime nerd that my brain is automatically allocating all its memory resources to Japanese cartoons instead of superfluous stuff like the proper procedure for inhale/exhale. :-D
