I’m not sure if you know about this Curtis, but the dub team made a commentary track about this episode. It’s absolutely hilarious.

The ending song is perfect for the scene and takes me back to happy memories when watching this show for the first time.

Yes amazing!

Now to continue from before in the manga with Makuro, there is one time of year when Makuro is in a very bad mood and that is her birthday. Hiei then brings up slave trader Chikou, which is the one "played" with Makuro for years and her father. Hiei asked her why does she let him live and that she must know where he is. Hiei then finds out she is still clinging to the one time he showed compassion and acted like a father. Hiei then said she digusted him for being so confused, then he got punched in the gut. After that he says if she fought like that at the tournament she would have won easily, since her power is dependent on her frame of mind. Hiei then ask Kurama for some flowers, which is a rare parasite, then proceed to find the Slave Trader Chikou, which is still doing the same things he been doing before. Hiei figures out the one time he acted like a father was a manufactured memory done with hypnosis, that had countless false images fill into her head. She 's been programed to have them flood her mind anytime she felt the urge harm or kill Chikou. A defense system to prevent Makuro from taking revenge, which Hiei is going to free her of. Chikou assumed her inner conflict would paralyze Makuro forever leaving himself complacent and unprepared. Hiei captured Chikou who looks to have merged with the plant Kurama gave him and presents him infront of Makuro, telling Chikou he is going to be begging for death soon. The rare parasite is called "pseudocreature" it merges with its host on a cellular level, instinctively repairing any damage done to the host's body. Hiei believes that unless the host's brain is destroyed, it will remain in a half-alive state for a very long time. Hiei then says "mutilate him however you see fit and if you ever tire of it, kill him", Makuro smiles, then Hiei says "Happy Birthday". That is all that happened with Makuro and Hiei after the tournament.

little notes from the end of the manga, for Makuro's birthday Heie hunted down her slave master and fused him to a plant so he'd regenerate from any damage so Makuro could torture him anyway she wants for eternity, koenma's father turned out to be lying scum who'd made it out that demons were worse then they really were so that he'd be king and the 3 worlds would remain separate, he convinced everyone without the barrier earth would be destroyed, even though it was fine before there was a barrier with Raizen and other demons on earth, he'd also brainwashed low level demons to cause trouble on earth so people would support him, then Koenma basically stages a coup apposing him, he plans on slowly reintegrating the 3 worlds again, we also briefly get to see Yusuke's human father, turns out he use to beat his wife and yusuke would attack him at 3 years old for it.

Genkai actually dies in the manga. Yusuke, Hiei, Kuwabara, and Kurama go on one last mission together and Genkai gave Yusuke one last piece of advice that let Yusuke save everybody. Also we get to see Yusuke’s father in the Managa (he is a abusive dick) and we get to see Kuwabara’s father who is a mobster which explain Kuwabara’s personality 😂

Chrome

also yukina moves in with kuwabara as an "exchange student" from demon world, if I remember correctly, there's a number of demons that are slowly coming to human world like koto and juri

Daniel Gonzalez

It was an amazing journey but I guess that means we're not watching the OVA on here on well as long as you watch it yourself but it's pretty only thing I'm not sure is if it's been dubbed

Colin

See ya, space cowboy

grimmjow

who is your favorite yuyu villain Curtis?

PKKite

Yeah i always feel like this final episode sticks the landing so great and ive heard some fans prefer it to the manga because that ending has a bit of a "and then" issue.

Dandy

Damn, well, put Yu Yu Hakusho (Ghost Fighter) in the books folks. Awesome way to finish an awesome series. Can't wait to be moving onward and upward with Cowboy Bebop tomorrow!

Willie Playz

Now you get to watch Bebop...........*happy noises*

GoldArthur

Well Curtis, you've officially gone through my two biggest suggestions: Yu Yu Hakusho and Avatar: The Last Airbender I only have one left: Gintama In my opinion, it's the better than the other two, but it's also a HUGE commitment.

Colin

English translation is “ghost files”. “Yu yu” is the sound a ghost makes in Japan and “Hakusho” means paper

Daniel Gonzalez

But I actually like the manga ending it's basically just the 2nd story of the 2018 OVA and it's cool because we a reunion of the crew since they hadn't been together since sensui even at the end one was missing also it adresses some of the things Curtis brought up here and if I was sure I wasn't spoiling it for him id bring something I think I realized

Anonymous

I was just getting ready to comment why do I remember genkai already being dead at the end and not giving a living will

Daniel Gonzalez

Also shout out to keiko for saying what she said at the end even tho she hated doing it(poor girl practically had tears in her eyes i think she has the yusuke fever worse than the fans of this show) not enough anime ladies stand up for themselves other than one other memorable instance that id recommend that show for that scene alone it had me shook VA killed it

J Johnson

What's the next series after this?

Anonymous

Yu Yu Hakusho is my favorite anime of all time. Justin Cook delivers a legendary performance as Yusuke along side Linda Young (Genkai), Chuck Huber (Hiei) and Chris Sabat (Kuwabara) as well as Laura Bailey (Keiko) and even Cynthia Cranz (Botan). There's even a small role from my favorite VA of all time; Steve Blum (Raizen). Thank you so much for letting me take this ride with you Curtis. Bang.

Daniel Gonzalez

It's a set order but I only know that cowboy bebop is next and then maybe hellsing ultimate not too sure about that one could be wrong

Anonymous

i do want to say, now that you finished Yu Yu, you should go back and watch TFS' Cell vs Yusuke video again. I think you'll have a deeper appreciation for it now that you're more familiar with the characters. Loved this series and can't wait for whatever comes next. :D

Zachary Provenzano

Yeah Gintama starts off pretty slow then picks up later in.

Anonymous

Laura Bailey. It's probably her second best single episode performance behind the episode "Death of the Undying" from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. The Lust vs Mustang fight she really gets to show her range.

SpazBoysComedy

From what I've heard and the clips I've seen of Gintama, I certainly wouldn't be sad at all if we get that one on the watch list!! :-D

Daniel Gonzalez

So question have you seen the 2018 OVA im assuming we're going straight to bebop and not watching it here any chance of you were just planning on reacting to it yourself you do a react because I'd definitely see that as worth it for my 1st goosher100 (id also considered gundam since I love robot) I feel itd be just the right amount of time where it's still fresh in your memory and you might be missing it for this Sunday or next at the latest u t if you've seen it already that's cool and what were your thoughts

Rue Surnameunimportant

Man, I'd love to see you react to the OVA they made recently, subbed or dubbed. And dude, just so you know there is awesome commentary by the voice actors for the final episode if you're interested. It involves them impersonating eachothers' characters. I don't know whether that interests you butttttt : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRElavagpsU

Anonymous

It was really cool to see you react to one of my fav childhood anime. It'll be fun to see you react to Bebop, which is also excellent

Heavenly Demon

Great show , Great run, but sadly its over,.. and cowboy bebop is a great show one of the great classics , like yu yu

Phillip Ribbink

Yeah the Manga is a little different than the Manga ending. Juri, Koto and some other Demon-girl come to living world and basically become pop idols. There's even a little bit where they're being interviewed and pretty much acknowledge that they are demons. But the interviewer blows it off as it being part of their act. Meanwhile Yusuke's dropped out of school. (Didn't have the grades to get into High School, which isn't mandatory in Japan). And has been working two jobs, the first running a Ramen stand (and occasionally giving his customers the inside scoop on the sure thing). The second job as basically as a spirit private eye (hey he's got the experience for it). Though most of his jobs end up either being getting people an autograph from the aforementioned demon-girl idol group. Or hoaxes. Always thought that it was a fun little way to end the manga.

will inuyasha ever be a possibility down the road?

August B Denys

This is hands down my favorite anime of all time. It was enough of a reason to become a patron. I've made clear before how I feel about things, but I really like this final episode because it brings together all the characters in a finality. The music, the characters, the animation: all is great. I'll probably say this is all I have to say for now, but a day or a week from now I'll be able to sum it up better. Otherwise, if you have the time, Lanipator's Abridged version of this is great, he honestly has the best version of the Yu Yu Hakusho movie (that's not to say others have abridged the movie; rather, the movie was done terribly and Lanipator does great things with it), and I hope you check out SuperEyePatchWolfs video called Why you should watch Yu Yu Hakusho (he even does one for hunter X Hunter that you could also watch seeing as that is done). Either way, no anime has ever matched up to Yu Yu Hakusho for me.

SpazBoysComedy

This really was an awesome ride! I enjoyed every element of it, but especially the dialogue. It was fun, endearing and real!

Anonymous

Hajime No Ippo ... you like kiwabara... there is a LOT of refference in there simmilar and rocky olike boxing anime. .. xD

Jake from SF

Such an enjoyable ride. Watching this on my own is always enjoyable but to see someones reactions and comments just adds to the enjoyment. Aside from spirit world, demond world and super powers, this is one of those animes that really feels realistic. And I think you have to owe that to the great characters and the connection and dialogue that they have. From Granny G.I.L.Fs no nonsense attitude and witty banter to Keiko being fed up with Yusuke and deciding that if he's not coming back that it's done and over with. Just real raw emotion. I also really love hearing Kurama and Genkai talking to each other because the voice actors are son and mother respectively so it's kind of like you're hearing a conversation between mom and son. Especially since both Genkai and Kurama are both wise characters.

BANG! 👉...

Good thing that wave washed over Keiko and Yusuke. Otherwise Keiko would've had to explain why her panties were wet.

Garlic

I remember getting up at 4am every weekday just to watch detective conan (case closed) on adult swim! Good times

Garlic

How many people would vote hajime no ippo now?

Denickart

you should check out YuYu Hakusho abridged. It's by Lanipator who you know from TeamFourStar as the voice of Vegeta and Krillin

Eagerstriker

all the yu yu episodes are gone :( it says "video does not exist" for all of them...
