This is one of the biggest surprises I've seen in anime! Jojo, the main protagonist and title character, is dead in episode 9?! As stunned as I am, I gotta admit, that's ballsy, intriguing storytelling!

Curtis, just remember. No one is safe in JoJo

Schmul Sjifris

The farewell to Erina seemed wrong. Im pretty sure what it actually means is "find happiness/be/live happy"

When I was first watching this show this episode was when I knew it was gonna be very different from anything else I’ve never seen a main character last less than 10 episodes in anything else

Anonymous

Now Jojo can Offically start.

This is a reminder that Goku died in episode 5 of DBZ

So hype for the next episode

Dojee

it's just going uphill from here

Damn, this man gets all the references! Nice, Curtis!

This is where the fun begins!!!

This part (Phantom Blood) was written back in the 80's, and Araki is still writing JoJo today 😁😁

Turza

main character dies in 9 episodes... that's a new one :D

The Overlord of Ice

Good night Jonathan Joestar, a true gentleman.

Anonymous

In Jojo no one is safe. But hey, at least Jonathan got laid first.

Chrome

yeah they kinda rushed part 1 of the story to start part 2 as soon as possible, it may not seem rushed to you Curtis, but part 1 was 44 chapters covered in 9 episodes, that's an insane number of chapters to cover, in comparison decently paced shows like my hero academia do around 2 chapters to an episode, or 1 chapter an episode for one piece. also as you probably know by now, jojo is generational so each part has a different cast of characters usually. on a side note there are more chapters of jojo then one piece.

Anonymous

Woah no way, I didnt know it had more chapters than one piece

Cetacean Needed

Now that I rewatch this, I can see a lot of parallels with how Kamina from Gurren Lagann was later written.

This is where JoJo's finally hooked me. While I definitely can see what others see in Phantom Blood (part 1) I never really got that into it myself, and probably would have dropped the series a few episodes in if I didn't know it (supposedly) got significantly better later on. This episode however managed to COMPLETELY throw me off guard. I knew going in that there would be timeskips between each part, but I never would have imagined that the first one would be initiated by the PROTAGONIST FREAKING DYING! O___o

J Johnson

This series is about the Jostar family, all the protagonists just happen to be nicknamed JoJo, but yea, the next arc is amazing.

V_VMat

Well maybe not main character, but Kamina though...

SlickRob

The next arc is my absolute favorite part.

JoJo is dead. Now it’s time for JoJo then JoJo the. Jojo then Gio then JoJo then JoJo reboot then JoJo

TheWerdna

Well, now you know the secret of JoJo'a... it is a generational saga. Each part stars a new member of the Joestar bloodline. So while Jonathan is gone, the stories of his descendants have only just begun

Dio epic prank, gone wrong, gone tentacle, ship on fire, we all die

Anonymous

I’m kinda sad that we won’t be hearing any WRYYYYYs or MUDAs anymore... And btw, he used the Space ripper stingy eyes before when he was falling off the tower.

astherphoenixxx96

Dio wanting another man's body sounds pretty gay

That thumbnail is my spirit animal

Yuion

I remember when I first watched this My shock cant be described (and tbh my disappointment, because I really liked joseph

Anonymous

I personally enjoyed Part 1 more than part 2. I think the second one was kida predictable and full of plotholes. And Dio was a way better villain than Part 2.

Anonymous

johnathan passed down the joestar secret technique onto erina, for he could not pass it on to the next generation himself.

Anonymous

I'm glad Dio's buddy, Asian Vegeta, is dead– he was so annoying.

Even if it's the slowest and less bizarre part, I still like Phantom Blood, this strange shakespearian tale of two brothers. And it introduces a very important concept: no one is safe, not even the main character, this add so much tension to the rest of the serie.

SpazBoysComedy

Couldn't agree more with you about it reinforcing the "no one is safe" element! That was a shocker, and certainly will have me on guard for the unexpected throughout the show, which really makes it fun. :-)

Sheriff Uchiha

Yeah. The first shot of the opening shows all the JoJo's up to part 7. I missed it first time watching the anime but I've read up to part 6 in the manga now and can recognise all but the last one.
