After this brutal and awesome fight, I was surprised to see Ains seemingly feeling as if he has Shalltear right where he wants her... I ain't gonna doubt my boy, Ains, but I can't figure out where his confidence in the situation is coming from.

If you didnt catch it that last attack killed shall tear and everything else. The LN says everything around him died even the air and the earth boom dead. Shalltear had a revive once when killed skill. Yup she is so OP you have to kill her twice to put her down.

About the last attack First was "The Goal of all life is death" Which enhances instant death magic to a point where it even surpasses imunity Then he cast "Widen Magic: Cry of the Banshee" which is a wide range instant death skill. Obviously Shaltear was immune to that. But then the clock from "The goal of all life is death" activated and at the end it fired another Cry of the banshee but severely enhanced. It killed everything, literally. It killed the air, microbes, ground structure etc. Thats why we are now in a kind of desert

That is not even taking account her broken healing ability. Keep in mind that Shaltear took massive damage from the first attack spell Ainz cast called Falling Down. It is a super tier spell that is supposed to kill all but the tankiest max level characters in a single blow. Despite this, Shaltear is able to heal almost completely with just a few blows of her Divine Class weapon Pipette Lance. Think about that for a second. You have a front line tank that can deal massive damage that can't be healed, heals themselves by inflicting damage, and can summon hordes to attack you. There is a reason why Shaltear is said to be the absolute best at 1v1 fighting in the whole of Nazarick, and yes that includes the supreme ones as well. The only one that even comes close is Touch Me and the only reason Ainz is doing so well is because he is cheating (rulz lawering) like a Mo Fo and relying on his high intellect and battle experience. In a fair and honest 1v1 fight Shaltear would destroy him. Which, of course, is why Ainz NEVER fights anyone fairly.

There's an awesome set of videos about Overlord by a channel called "Aninews" I'd recommend you check out a video called "How Strong Is Ainz Ooal Gown? | OVERLORD Ainz Ooal Gown True Power Explained - Updated" now that you've seen the first season. I'm pretty sure there's no significant spoilers in it and it'd be cool to see you react to it.

So more information! Lots of abilities this time around, but as for your question, at the end of the last episode remember when Ainz said "I won't be defeated by someone who relies on their skills alone" well theres a hint for you. Now as for this time, as you can see its no surprise Shalltear is the strongest among the Floor Guardians, her combination of abilities basically make her a 'let loose on the enemy lines and watch the chaos' type of creation. A little explanation on the abilities at the end, the last skill Ainz used actually killed Shalltear, but she had a resurrection item given to her by her creator so she was brought back. (Is it a question however, since she was killed why wasn't the mind control broken? This seems to be a plothole) The skills Ainz used, Cry of the Banshee was used as a Widening Magic, basically increasing the Area of Effect of all Instant Death type spells, like the one he used after that, his special ability The Goal Of All Life Is Death, this is an Eclipse class spell and the highest one in that class (it can only be reached by a proper maxed out overlord like Ainz) to put it into simple words, the spell is "death" in all forms. It doesn't just instantly kill the people it effects, it kills everything in the area. Any animals or insects die, all plantlife withers into dust, the microbes in the air and ground perish, the earth breaks down into sand, even the air itself disappears and turns into a lifeless vacuum. This is why only an undead overlord can cast this spell, because realistically if a 'live' person were to cast it, they'd die under its effects too. This finished off shalltear until she used the resurrection item. Its also good to note that Cocytus was brought in by Albedo to contain Demiurge, fun fact each of the guardians are weak against one guardian but strong against another, i don't remember the exact list of who could defeat who but they were all built so that you have a backup in case one of them goes rogue.

Something kind of confused me about Shalltear's build. She's supposed to be the first line of defence against anyone who would try to invade the tomb of Nazarick. Back when this was just a game. So why does she have spells that deal divine/holy damage? I mean when you think about it, if a party was attacking the Great Tomb of Nazarick. (Which again is a tomb and no doubt has countless undead guarding it). They'd most likely have a Cleric or some other kind of Divine Spellcaster that'd be brutally effective against undead. While also being immune to the effects of Holy/Divine magic themselves. Just seems like an unnecessary feature to me.

Holy shit. That makes sense. But i think its just one of many many spells she got, just like the fire one she used. Shes just spaming holy damage, because she figured its Ains' biggest weakness.

lol absolutely love how upset you got at the end of the episode. That's how I feel for the best animes
