Rest In Peace Greed & Hohenheim

Anonymous

Hohenheim's death has to be one of my favourite anime deaths, knowing his whole story and then dying at his wife's grave is powerful

Subaru130

I love that moment of Hohenheim admitting that he still wants to live when he's finally at the end of his life. It reminds me of how Mustang admitted that part of him was trying to figure out human transmutation after Hughes died.

ShadowDragonRyuuto

Remember that time when you thought that Hohenheim was going to play the role of being a bad father who abandoned his family? The ultimate swerve

Anonymous

Not being able to react is also a reaction in it's own way and sometimes the most fitting, been a pleasure to enjoy the show once again through your experience =)

Brother E

Curtis went a full 180 with Hohenheim, first a character he really disliked to end up becoming one of his favorite characters in the series.

Anonymous

man... the journey nearly comes to an end, happy you're enjoying it Curtis, won't deny that this is my favorite anime ever.

Chelsea Williams

Will you be doing the bloopers once this is over???? And the four panel shorts??? They are entirely worth it and not that long.

Anonymous

Did you notice that there was nothing engraved on the Dwarf's Portal of Truth?

GoldArthur

Don't worry about it. Sometimes silence is an awesome reaction! Also Curtis, one thing that a lot of people don't pay much attention to, despite it actually being said multiple times is that truth is actually that person in their most honest form - almost like their subconscious. When Ed "beats" truth, notice how truth's voice becomes more and more like Ed's as he disappears? That's Ed reaching a point of complete honesty and understanding with himself. Before, when they paid tolls, you could see truth taking their body parts from them and into himself/herself, but, in the end, Ed takes truth into him.

Anonymous

My favorite moment with The Truth. The way he states he has been beaten he doesn't say with malice or disdain. He says with with a level a pride and joy, That finally someone has pushed passed their own arrogance, and found the right answer. Plus that moment when Ed mentions just being a simple human, who couldn't even save a little girl. The sudden change in your face when it registered with you, that something as far back as that still effected Ed.

I swear I didn't cry, and this is the only lie I'll ever tell :'/

One thing that I love about FMAB is the symbolism and irony with the homunculi's deaths. Lust on her knees to a man; gluttony eaten by pride; Envy killing himself because jealousy of human relationships; Sloth giving up on life because "Living... is such a pain;" Wrath was killed by a serial killer who overcame his own wrath; Pride, like envy, became jealous of humans (who he considered lower beings) and was defeated by Edward, who was mostly prideful during the series but became more humble; And finally Greed, who gave up his life to save his friends... finally realizing that the only thing that truly mattered to him was right by his side

Anonymous

The music, the voice acting, and the deaths of characters where sooooo good this episode. I always end up in tears the last episodes.

Anonymous

This episode cemented Hohenheim as one of my all time favorite characters.

Backstaber789

If you get the chance you should watch the bloopers for this series! They are so funny and worth it

Anonymous

Greed dies happy and satisfied, hows that for tragic irony? Lol

Anonymous

I can't believe I've watched the Hohenhiem death scene so many times, yet it still affects me the same everytime. He's definitely my favourite character in this series, and one of my all time.

Anonymous

No Skippy da ending of Ep 64

Anonymous

(I already posted this before, but for some reason it seems to have disappeared) Remember how the homonculus were created from Father's desires? Well now that Father's been defeated let me tell you just how much of a reflection of himself they are. Pride stealing the body of who is essentially his brother, and someone he considered inferior, is just like how Father used Hohenheim and gained his body. Wrath's anger towards religion parallels Father's hatred towards God. Envy's jealousy towards humans is a reflection on how Father wished to have the freedom that humans had. Greed's desires were all things that Father could never have, chief among them being friendship. Sloth's indolence was a reference to how Father never tried to improve himself and instead relied on others. Finally, the lack of passion showed in Lust, is proof that Father was incapable of feeling love. Ah wait, how could I forget Gluttony, Curtis's favorite homunculus? Well Gluttony's death actually mirrors Father's quite a bit. Not only are they being consumed by a dark abyss, but they also beg and scream for mercy as it happens.

Anonymous

Hohenheim is such a great character. Also, I love the bit where Father is reminded of what he said, "Humans who would play god must pay a steep price for their arrogance. THAT is TRUTH." That's an uh oh moment for him, that's when he realized he done fucked up.

17:25 - I think the reactions you've been giving throughout this video have been the best. Don't sell yourself short there. I can see all the emotion welling up inside you. You don't need to speak to react.

Anonymous

When The Truth presents himself to The Dwarf in the Flask he is shaped like The Dwarf in the Flask but when he presents himself to Ed he is shaped like a young boy. I didn't notice that before.

Anonymous

FMAB was Hohenheim’s story all along. :)

Anonymous

Sloth died because he overexerted himself and died too recklessly.

Morgan

ugh ugh ugh I have Halloween makeup on and I can't cry and ruin it, dang it! god i love this series.

Anonymous

Loosing Greed gets me every time. I'm not crying, you're crying.

Anonymous

Gluttony also is about how Father always views others as a "resource," and will even consume entire nations and even "God." Did you know in Eastern Orthodox Christianity that they add Despair as an Eighth deadly sin? That suits Father. He was always driven by insecurity, he wanted to be perfect yet also envied humans. He wanted to get rid of these human traits that made him feel trapped and insecure. But by trying to ignore these things he could never learn from them and improve like Ed did. He ended up failing miserably and Truth doomed him to a pit of despair.

UMBRELLAS FOR SALE! 😭. what a great story for us all

Anonymous

This 😢 Episode 😢 this 😢 Anime. 😢

Its crazy how much this series makes you love charachters you used to think were assholes. Will always be one of my favorites.

Anonymous

I'm sure people have already told you but it's crucial to watch through the end credits for 64

Cetacean Needed

This series has one of (perhaps the) best ending. Certainly one of my personal favorites. The writing is immaculate, the characters' personal endings are fitting, it leaves me wanting more, but at the same time I'm satisfied with the ending. At least Arakawa didnt go the Boruto route lol.

Anonymous

As briefly mentioned in other comments, everyone's Portal of Truth has designs on it representing their knowledge. Father had a blank door, because he never actually grew and obtained his own knowledge. He used others instead and thus his door was blank, further emphasizing the Truth's point.

Zandorum

On the next episode please do watch all the way through the outro.

Anonymous

When Truth says, “The backdoor is right over there. Goodbye Edward Elric,” you can hear Truth begin to sound like Ed’s voice.

Anonymous

I got a reputation to maintain; can't start crying at work 😂😂

Anonymous

The portal is a reflection of what they hold dear to themselves that’s why Ed and Al’s are covered in alchemy and why Mustangs is covered in flame alchemy but the Dwarf had nothing dear to him so there was nothing on his portal. It’s the reason I believe y Ed was able to trade his portal to Al’s body. Ed willingly gave up on everything he knew as truth I guess you can say. Alchemy is what made Ed the person who he was he trade who he was and was going to become for his brother

Anonymous

Ever since Blindwave brought it up, I'm gonna make the joke that on the other side of that gateway, "Furby" ended up in the Borderland's universe and his new "flask" is a robot we call Claptrap (he really does sound like him).

Anonymous

He did! He said so in response to a comment on the last one!

Anonymous

I like how the Truth can be interpreted in so many different ways but still make sense for the story

Koala Banana

Great reaction video Curtis. I really appreciate watching from your perspective.

Ryzsard

makes me cry every time

Anonymous

There are ending credits, and if you want, you can watch the FMAB Bloopers, it's basically hilarious takes on certain scenes you've already seen. They were made by the actual voice actors as well. So you know the voice actors had fun when they were acting out their lines

Anonymous

The Truth is one, The Truth is all, therefore The Truth is THE GOOSH!!! (“GASP?!”)

astherphoenixxx96

A reminder of the actual mc behind the scenes

Anonymous

Yes! We need him to react to FMAB Bloopers

Brother E

I love how after everything is said and done, Hohenheim finally managed to find closure in all his faults from what happened in Xeres and to not being there as a father for Ed & Al. Hohenheim was an agonizing soul throughout the series and for him to finally reflect on all of his troubles and face them head on really showed he lived life valorously. When he’s at Trisha’s grave and talks about how he’s finally got to be a father for Ed & Al you can tell Hohenheim indeed found closure and was in peace with himself as he goes out dying his own way. He was a really great/complex character.

Anonymous

i suggest overlord for the next anime after fmab

SpazBoysComedy

DBS is up after FMAB, but when we get our schedule set up at the $5 level following HxH, I have a strong suspicion that Overlord is gonna be a main contender in the poll there, based on how many people here seem to REALLY like it! :-)

Anna Lena Ciplajevs

The end of a journey. I always cry at the deaths of Greed and Hohenheim no matter how often I watch them. And what amazing characters they were. Fmab just does that to you I guess. Greed like the other Homunculi died a very ironic death. He was content with his live and didn’t wish for anything more. And how fathers words from a few episodes back have come to bite him in the ass. Truth really is very ironic in dealing out punishments. Btw did you notice how his door was completely blank? It shows how he really hasn’t learned anything at all. Im really looking forward to the next episode but i really don’t want it to end. This is my favorite anime by far (not that difficult since I’m not really that much of an anime watcher) and one of my favorite shows in general. I dunno which shows you’ll watch next, but I recommend attack on titan, eventho you kinda spoiled yourself with the a slap on titan parody. It’s still good and I think you’d like it :)

Daniel Gonzalez

I like how you noticed about Ling just offering up his philosopher stone with no hesitation and how huge that is it's the whole reason he came and Lan Fan lost her arm and Fu his life for it not to mention the fate of his clan riding on it but Ed is his bro theres more brotherhood to FMAB than just the obvious blood relations Greed was also a bro I definitely loved him but he got a great sendoff who knew we'd end up liking so many of the homunculus

JLou

I can't think of a more perfect ending for the perfect journey. Be sure to watch through the ending credits for the final episode!!

Anonymous

Actually, Truth's voice has always been based on the person it's talking to.

The Gimpster 101

Lust was burned to death by a man who didn’t want her, Gluttony was eaten, Envy died being jealous of humans, Wrath died at peace, Sloth died trying his best, Pride died and was reincarnated as a humble creature and Greed died giving up his entire being. Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood is a Masterful work of artful storytelling.

Anonymous

This journey of watching you experience FMAB has been incredible and I am so pleased you've been able to enjoy it, understand it and appreciate it.

Liam D

Hohenheim is one of my favorite characters of all time, his death always gets to me! i always pick the guys who die, jiraiya in naruto and hohenheim in fmab

Anonymous

This episode always makes feel so many damn emotions, especially Greed´s and Hohenheim´s deaths

AceOfSerberit

don't worry about the lack of words from you. IMO opinion that just makes the reaction feel more genuine. At least in situations like this

Sargento

being speechless is also a reaction. This anime is one of my all time favorites. I've watch it so many times, and still makes my cry.
