Gon and Killua's friendship is basically the core of this series and the way they develop it is masterful

While both kil and sasuke are "edgy" overpowered assassin type savants, sasuke is an unlikable dickweed who didnt want anything to do with naruto. So of course gon and killua who actually enjoy each others company is gonna be a better/more satisfying relationship. Just on that dynamic alone which ignores the actual meat of their character personalities and how they interact, contrast and develop over time.

The relationship between Gon and Killua -especially concerning Killua- is certainly one of my favorite aspects of this GREAT series!

Just to let you know in the manga they all had to open the gate by themselves. Kurapika and Gon opended the first gate and Leorio, the MVP he is, actually opened through to the second gate. YEP, I'm not BSing you. He is actually physically the strongest of them at this point in time.
