I like seeing Ryoma's early days, and these fights were REALLY good!

New/Shin Getter as can see is a lot more gruesome off that bat compared to Armageddon were most of the violence and gore was against monsters. New/Shin is closer to he manga in terms of raw, unhinged gore and violence, and also it has Ryoma show his martial arts background and fighting capabilities, something Armageddon never showed, instead Armageddon Ryoma only used fire arms. Up until Getter Arc, New Getter was the most faithful anime to the manga overall in violence, tone, humor and mystery.

A number of scenes here are referencing the manga, albeit altered. The most more or less similar moments that are closest to the manga are: Ryoma's fight with the three armed guys, the attack on the lab and infecting/controlling everyone, including Tatsuhito, having to kill Tatsuhito for survival, and Ryoma flying the torso of Getter 1 to defeat the enemy, though Tatsuhito dying was happened before Ryoma uses the Getter and was more of a casualty of war than pulling a heroic sacrifice.

Things that are different: Ryoma is 20 rather than a teen, his dad isn't mention, the run in with the mafia didn't occur, the Oni replace the Dinosaur Empire as a threat, and of course, the New Getter exists in place of Getter 1 which is called Proto Getter here, which is reference to the 70's anime, but the other Proto Getters shared 70's Proto Getters white color scheme, were as Tetsuhito's was colored like the OG Getter Robo.

I liked the fights a lot in this one! I also like this version of Ryoma. This looks like a fun one!
